Ward Schmidt
It is with great sadness that the family of Ward William Schmidt of Hanover, Ontario announces his passing after a brief illness, on September 17, 2017, in his 89th year. Ward will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate of 29 years, Joanne, his sisters Claudine (late George Koyich ) and Marie (Albert Diechert), his children, Bill (Audrey), Doris (Richard Schaefer), Wendy (Morris Berg), Pam (Klaus Bishoph), Darryl and Gary and his step-children Diana (Calvin Brydges) and Earnest (Allison Ethelstone). Ward leaves behind many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Ward will be sadly missed by his best friend Douglas “my son” Robertson. Ward was predeceased by his parents Emma and Eddie, his brothers Walter and Mauric, sisters June Evans, Marilyn Warner, Joy Bowman and Gloria Rabethgae and sons Thomas and Donald. Cremation has taken place. Interment and a Graveside Service for Ward will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, Mannheim, Ontario, with Pastor Richard Holmes officiating. A celebration of life for Ward will immediately follow at the New Hamburg Legion. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ward may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church, Mannheim, Ontario.
