Donald (Bud) Gregson Whittaker, 83, of Port Elgin, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Summit Place, Owen Sound.   Born in Chatham, Ontario he was the eldest son of Mavis (Ferren) and Donald Gregson Whittaker Sr.   Bud is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Robinson), daughters Debbie (Blair) Hannam, Lynne (Terry) McDevitt, Jody (Dave) McCoppen, Kim (Bill) Harron, son Phil (Sarah-Jayne) Robinson, daughter Vicki (Tom) Jewell, along with many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.   He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jack (Nancy) Whittaker and grandson Timothy Terrence Donald McDevitt.   Bud graduated from Ryerson College in 1951 as an automotive mechanic and was employed in Chatham, Ontario for a time.   He later obtained his stationary engineer license and worked as such for the International Paper Company in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, and finally for Campbell’s in Chatham, Ontario.     Bud “retired” to Port Elgin where he owned and operated Sunny Valley Campground on Lake Huron, and later set up his own business as The RV Doctor.  A jack of all trades he was never idle, always enjoying his next adventure and meeting new people. Lovingly known to his family as “Felix the Cat” he utilized many more than his nine lives, using his enthusiasm for life, strong inner will, and determination to pull through what ever life threw at him.   We will miss your smile, your quick and witty sense of humor, but ultimately we will miss you Felix.   Bud’s body has been cremated and a family interment will take place at Maple City Cemetery on a later date.   Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the  Lung Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or any charity of choice.   Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services 519-371-8507.   Online condolences may be made through www.greybrucecremation.com.
