Peacefully with family and friends by his side on Thursday May 26, 2016, at the age of 74.   Don is survived by his sons Jeff (Kelly) of Tampa, Florida and Martin (Cassie) of Owen Sound, his grandchildren Margaux and Josephine, his sister Diane (Doug) Andreasen of Wasaga Beach, and his sister-in-law Mary DesJardine of Mississauga.   Uncle to Sherri O’Brien and Steve (Charmaine) Andreasen.   Lovingly remembered by his best friend Marion Kelly of Hanover.   Fondly remembered by Marie DesJardine, mother of Jeff and Martin.   Predeceased by his parents Roger and Ev DesJardine, and his brother Ernie DesJardine.   Don was born in Sudbury, spent his early childhood in Baxter and his youth in Alderwood, Toronto.   He attended Ryerson and Waterloo universities where he played on both university hockey teams.   Don then moved to Southampton where he worked at the golf course and ran the Southampton hockey programs. Don eventually settled in Owen Sound, having worked as an accountant, then in the food industry; finally finding his greatest success as a financial planner.   He thrived in his profession using his determination, knowledge and relationship building skills.   In addition to his love of hockey, he enjoyed golfing with his friends at Legacy Ridge, travelling and cruising, wintering in Florida, and spending time with his two granddaughters. He is fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity towards friends and his community; supporting many charities including the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation, the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and the Salvation Army.  As per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place.   A Celebration of Don’s Life will be announced at a later date.   As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.   Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services 519-371-8507.  Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com.
