Allan Cruickshank

Cruickshank Photo

Peacefully at home on Wednesday October 24th, 2018 in his 95th year. Loving husband for 71 years to Eileen. Father of John (Elizabeth) of British Columbia and Barbara Misener of Alberta (formerly Southampton). Proud Grandfather of Alison and David (Lori). Great Grandfather of Wilson, Nathanael and Faith – all of Red Deer, Alberta. Will also be missed by his sister in law Gwen and her family in England. Al was born in Toronto. A very proud Canadian who joined the army on his 18th birthday and served overseas in Europe as a driver with the field surgical unit. After the war he was with NCR for 25 years and then chose to re-locate to Southampton.

Al was an avid golfer – long time member of Chippewa Golf Club with 7 holes in one to his credit. In winter his love was curling – His teammates were aware of his desire to win. Al took a ‘temporary’ job looking after the ice until the club could find a qualified ice maker. Extremely conscientious, he took many courses and won an award from the Ontario Curling Association for his dedication to the club.

Al’s life was celebrated by his family and friends when he was 90 which he enjoyed very much.

Cremation has taken place and we ask that you remember him when you stand on the first tee or shake hands on the curling ice. His family will hold a private memorial in Alberta. If desired, donations to the Southampton hospital or the Legion would be appreciated.
