Doreen Ina McDonald (formally of Durham) passed away at Sunnyside LTC in Kitchener on April 3, 2021 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents Fred and Ina Cort, brother Donald and a great-granddaughter Isobel.  Survived by her children, Chris (Joanne) of Kitchener, Brock (Janice) of Sutton, Gwen (Bob) of Durham, Kirk (Connie) of St. Jacobs and Jay (Ed) of Kitchener, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Doreen was a career woman, helping to support her family as an administrative assistant at Interforest, John Diefenbaker SS and Hanover Kitchens. She and Bill also owned and operated Heritage Corner Variety for a number of years before retiring in 1986. Doreen and Bill loved to camp. Many a singsong was held around the campfire in Wasaga Beach accompanied by Doreen on the uke, banjo or accordion. After retirement, they continued to camp at the Saugeen Valley Conservation Area. She enjoyed reminiscing with fellow campers at happy hour with her favourite tipple and only gave up camping at 91. She was also involved in the community, serving on the Old Home Week Committee, the Wood Show, Canadian Open Banjo Competition and Kinettes to name a few.  As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service.  Memorial donations to the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority or the Durham Hospital Foundation as expressions of sympathy would be gratefully accepted.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services 519-371-8507.

Condolences for Doreen McDonald
