It is with great love and sorrow that the family of Patrick (Paddy) John Hatt announce his passing at the Georgian Heights home in Owen Sound on December 19, 2021, at the age of 87.  He will always be missed by his devoted wife and lifetime partner, Sheila.  Paddy will be remembered fondly by his sons, Gordon of Kitchener, and Kevin and his wife Simone Colina of NYC. Grandchildren, Sam, and Lorelei are left with wonderful memories of time spent with their dear Poppy.  Paddy was born and raised in Wiarton, Ontario, the youngest child of Lena and Wilfred Hatt. He was the pride and joy of his three big sisters: Eva (Matthews), Evelyn (Palmer), and May (Reckin), and big brother Bruce, all predeceased.  Paddy was very athletic and was a competitive player on both the Wiarton hockey and softball teams. He attended Wiarton High School where he met the love his life, Sheila Galloway. They were married for 67 years.  A lifelong employee of the Royal Bank of Canada, Paddy started his career in the Wiarton branch and was moved around Ontario. He was eventually transferred to the New York City office where he worked for eight years. Paddy and Sheila enjoyed their life state-side making many great friends in their community of Hillsdale NJ. He retired from the Vancouver office of RBC in 1990.  They moved to Owen Sound because being close to family was important. Paddy had many good years golfing and was a member of the Owen Sound Golf Club. For a numbered of years, before health issues overcame him, they wintered in Coco Beach FL, where Paddy worked on his game.  Paddy is survived by an array of nieces and nephews, and he will particularly be missed by Patricia Anderson, Ted Palmer, and Paddy Palmer.  Paddy is also remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Helen Sawchuk, Edith Galloway and Virginia Cornford.  Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the First Baptist Church of Owen Sound would be appreciated.  A graveside service will be held in the spring.  Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forever.” Psalms 121:7-8

In this Psalm we are not promised a life without pain or death, but we are promised a life in the love of our Lord.

Condolences for Patrick (Paddy) Hatt
