It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Kerr at the Hanover and District Hospital with her family at her bedside on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in her 82nd year.   Marg, Mom, Grannie K, Great Gran was thoughtful, caring, kind, had a deep love for her family and was someone we could all count on.  Marg is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Larry Kerr.  Beloved Mother of Craig Kerr (Karen) and Kathy Gebhardt (Bryon).  Cherished Grannie of Amanda Gebhardt (Andrew Fairfull), Amber Sayer (Ryan), Derek Kerr (Stacey), Caitlin Willits (Joel) and Jared Kerr.  Adored Great Gran of Eirlys and Avery Fairfull, Madison and Benjamin Sayer, Jaxon Kerr and Kolby Willits.  Marg was a lifelong resident of Hanover and was predeceased by her parents William and Hannah Beresford and was the youngest of 7 siblings.  Marg was known as “Margie” to many and will be remembered by her special nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.  Marg loved sports and was active playing baseball in her teen years with her sisters.  They were known as the “Beresford Sisters” and made up most of the team.  Mom/Grannie K followed her children’s and grandchildren’s involvement in their love of sport and was very proud of them and was their biggest fan!  Many cherished memories and special times to keep close, especially the time spent in the backyard at the pond and summer holidays at the cottage.  Marg was active in her community and was always thinking of others.  Many years at Christmas she cooked turkeys for the less fortunate, knitted countless baby bonnets/sweater sets for the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary and operated Coats for Kids with Larry.  After her retirement as Bookkeeper for Hallman Motors, she volunteered as a Greeter at the Hanover Hospital.  Marg was recognized for her dedication to the community and received Hanover’s Senior Citizen of the Year for 2015.   The past year was a challenge for Marg as she struggled with her health.  The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at The Village in Hanover, Dr. Montag and the team of the Hanover Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Marg, Larry and family over this past year and especially in her final days.  With respect to Marg’s wishes, she leaves this world just as she lived…quietly, gently and humbly.  No funeral will be held.  Cremation has taken place.  Donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy in Marg’s memory,  www.hdhf.ca.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.
