John Donald
Our family has lost the man who was the centre of our world.
John Charles Donald passed away on Monday, August 4th, 2025, with his family by his side. John was 70 and an incredible man who fought everything the world threw at him with tenacity and strength. He was a warrior throughout his retirement.
Husband to Sandy, Father to Jon (Stephanie) and Nicole (Mike), Brother to George (Isabell), Dave (Sylvia), Grandfather to Aiden, James, Benjamin, Harlow, Daniel and Ruthie; a loyal “in-law” to Sandy’s brothers Gary (Anitha (d)) and Brian (Tracy), Mom (Carol, and Pop Jim (d)); a caring Uncle, a true Friend to many; John was honest, loving, trustworthy, funny, dedicated and so many other wonderful things to so many people! He will be forever missed and leaves a massive void in our lives.
His love for Sandy shone throughout their marriage. Partners for life, they had just recently planted their 30th anniversary maple tree with excitement and love.
John loved spending time with his children and grandchildren especially during NFL and NASCAR seasons. Christmas was his favourite time of year where he could plan extraordinary meals, wrap gifts in unique ways and spend time with those he loved dearly.
John loved to travel, to cook fabulous meals, to entertain and to spend time laughing with his brothers, friends and neighbours.
Being a cottage owner was his dream come true and it brought him closer to his love and respect for nature. Being the “Captain of his ship” brought him great joy. Fishing was always catch and release and a good bonfire to end the day could be expected.
Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, John was a dedicated Toronto Police officer for over 31 years (1976-2007). He had great passion for his work and loyalty to his partners; they can share crazy stories with laughter and pride.
The memories of the life that we once shared with laughter and love, are the same memories now filled with such sorrow and longing. In time they will become happy again but for now we bear the heartbreaking loss of a wonderful man.
Rest without pain my love. You’ve fought like a warrior for so long and are now without that burden. I’ll see you in the stars, hear you in the wind and feel you in my heart and soul forever. I love you John Donald.
Know that all of us will Stay the Course.
