Doris Whaley

July 13, 1928 – February 27, 2018

Doris Whaley (nee: Prestidge) passed away with her children by her side at Owen Sound General Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 27th.  Loving mother to Sandra Elders (Harold) and Paul Whaley (Louis), and the most amazing Nanny to her granddaughters Danielle Smart (Chris), Amanda Gilmore (Chad), and Jesse Elders, and great grandchildren Olivia, Spencer, Samuel and Carter.  Predeceased by her husband Lorne, brothers George, Ernie, Eddie, David and survived by brothers Winston, Gary and Alan. Doris and Lorne made their home at Whaley’s Corners, on a small parcel of land, located on the original family farm. Doris was a long time employee in the offices of Maple Lodge Farms.  Doris was an avid knitter and later in life took a keen interest in quilting, from which all family members have benefitted. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday March, 6th at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Hornby, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m.  A private family interment to follow at a later date at St. Stephen’s Church.  There will be a reception following the service in the church basement.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada www.alzheimer.ca/en.

When tomorrow starts without me,

Don’t think we’re apart

For every time you think of me,

I’m right here in your heart

Condolences for Doris Whaley
