Stephen (Steve) Symes

On Sunday, August 25, 2019, Stephen (Steve) Symes passed away at the age of 71 in Owen Sound, Ontario. He was a loving husband of 45 years to Suzanne (Suzy) and a loving father to his two sons (Skipp and Scott). Steve had a passion for boating and his idea of a perfect day was being surrounded by family/friends while going for a boat ride. When he was younger he enjoyed scuba diving and logged many hours of bottom time. Steve was also known for his generosity and his kindness to others. He was always willing to lend a hand where he could. He had a strong Christian faith which directed his life.  Steve was an entrepreneur with a passion for business. The first business he started was G+S Watersports which was born from his love of scuba diving. He went on to turn around businesses as a trustee, while working for Clarkson Company and later became the Executive Vice President at Champion Motor Graders. He finished his career as the President and CEO of the Reliable Group of companies which he ran for almost 30 years. He is survived by his wife Suzy, his children Skipp (Carnelle) and Scott (Elizabeth) and his grandchildren, Olivia, Parker and Celeste. He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Dorothy Symes. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd at 2:00 pm at Light and Life Chapel in Tobermory, Ontario.
