Ken Heathers, resident of Port Elgin, passed away November 17, 2020 at the age of 67.  Ken is survived by his wife Mariane of 47 years.  Proud father of daughters Monica (predeceased) and Crystal (Jordan Lubberts) of Beamsville.  Loving grandfather to Skye 3 ½ years and Zachery 1 ½ years, who he loved dearly.  He is also survived by his brother Dennis (Brenda Spurrell) of Sauble Beach, sister Janice Rachinski (Ed) of Edmonton, sisters-in-law Rose Heathers and Nancy Heathers, both of Owen Sound, brother-in-law Arthur Slumskie (Julie) of South Dakota, numerous nieces, nephews and their children and all of Ken’s friends.  Ken was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Betty Heathers, brother Steve and parents-in-law Roy and Jean Slumskie.  After a 17 year fight with cancer, Ken won the last battle by using MAID.  Ken was raised on a farm near Kemble with his 2 brothers and 1 sister.  He held a Diploma in Civil Technology from Georgian College.  Ken loved fishing, golfing, downhill skiing, hiking and camping.  Motorcycling came later in his life.  Golfing was his passion which resulted in 2 holes-in-one.  His greatest hope was that he will be remembered for his love of his family.  Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date, due to COVID-19 restrictions.  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Network (www.giftoflife.on.ca) or the Transplant Program, Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation (www.tgwhf.ca/tribute) in recognition of Ken’s Heart Transplant.  Thank you to the VON Team and Palliative Care Personnel for their dedication and support.  Sincere gratitude for the Heart Donor for giving Ken an additional 12 years of life.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.

Ken’s final words are not to say goodbye, but see you on the other side!

Condolences for Kenneth Heathers
