Of Port Elgin passed away peacefully at Chapman House, Owen Sound on Thursday, December 17, 2020 just 6 days shy of his 90th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Catherine Walker (Hill) (January 2001). Dear father of Cathy Yager, Kerry (Irene) Walker, Nancy (Corey Carbert) Walker and Jon Walker. Cherished grandpa of Tara Rivers (Chris Barkshire), Shaun (Crystal) Yager, Stephanie (Chris) Gagnon, Nikki (Sam) Gole, Sharmaine Pfohl (Miguel Do Souto), Dylan Walker, Hayley Walker, Keara Walker and Alisha Carbert. Beloved great grandfather to Rae-leala, George, Carter, Autumn, Grace-Lynn, Harrison, Remi and Tadian. Greatly missed by his siblings Edward (Dee) Walker, Elaine Himsl, Robert Walker and Frederick (Cathy) Walker. Also missed by his brothers-in-law Jack Hill and Doug (Wanda) Hill and by sister-in-law Dorothy Hill. Special friend to Dorothy Jutzi and Debbie Davey. Predeceased by his parents George and Florence (Schmidt) Walker, son-in-law Terry Yager, brother-in-law Roger Hill and sisters-in-law Susan Walker and Laura Hill.  George was born in Kitchener on December 23, 1930. He grew up in Port Elgin and at the age of 19 moved back to Kitchener where he met the love of his life Catherine, here they raised their four children. He also began his 37 year career working as a Manager for J.M. Schneider. He was an active member in Scouts Canada for over 25 years being honoured with the Kings Scout Award. He enjoyed many summers at his cottage in Southampton. At the age of 54 he took an early retirement where he moved back to Port Elgin. George spent his days woodworking, playing with his grandchildren in his pool, and being an active member at Faith Lutheran Church. In his later years he served on the board for Faith Maple Estates, as well as enjoying his weekly swing bowling games and hanging out with friends. He was an avid card player, playing in the Senior Summer Games where he won gold. George will be missed by many for his sense of humour, funny jokes and his quick wit.  The family would like to thank the outstanding staff at Chapman House for the care George received during his last few weeks.   A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
