Evelyn Slot
August 27, 1949 – April 30, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evelyn Slot, affectionately known to many as “Nana,” on April 30, 2025, at Southbridge in Owen Sound. Born in Midland on August 27, 1949, Evelyn lived a life rooted in warmth, generosity, and deep family love.
Evelyn was the devoted mother of William [Krista] and the late Connie [Scott], cherished sister of Carol [John], and beloved sister to her brothers Donnie and Buck. She was a proud and loving Nana to Chantel [Rory], and their children James and Wesley; Karissa [Spencer]; Mariah [Ben], and their daughter Lennyn; and Carling [Sky], and Sky’s daughter Ella. She was a beloved auntie to Kelly [Chris], Mellinda [Dave], and their children Olivia and Bryce.
Evelyn will now be reunited with her beloved husband Bill, with whom she shared many years of love and happiness. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and countless memories.
Evelyn’s love for baking was well-known, especially her delicious butter tarts that were a favourite of many. Her kitchen was often filled with the sweet aromas of fresh treats, a reflection of her love for family and the joy she took in sharing what she made with others.
Evelyn will be fondly remembered for her welcoming spirit and the memories made at her and Bill’s home on West Street—always the house with the pool, full of laughter, love, and endless snacks. Whether it was a holiday, a spontaneous visit, or a summer afternoon by the water, Evelyn made everyone feel at home. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.
A special thank you is extended to the staff at Southbridge for their compassionate care and support during Evelyn’s final days.
She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and many friends.
Please come celebrate Evelyn at her celebration of life at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Owen Sound on Saturday May 31st at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
